Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark star Patrick Page will play Comte de Guiche in the Roundabout Theatre Company's upcoming Broadway revival of Cyrano de Bergerac, according to The New York Times. Directed by Jamie Lloyd, the previously announced production stars Douglas Hodge in the title role. Cyrano de Bergerac begins previews September 14 at the American Airlines Theatre, with an official opening night set for October 11. No additional casting has been announced.
In the classic comedy by Edmond Rostand, Cyrano (Hodge) is a nobleman with a head for poetry and a nose for miles. He is adored by everyone in Paris except for his true love Roxanne, who can’t see past his all-too-prominent facial feature. Instead, Roxanne falls in love with Christian, a young cadet. When Christian tells Cyrano that Roxanne makes him tongue-tied, Cyrano provides him with the romantic words that win her heart. The Comte de Guiche is a powerful and married nobleman, also in love with Roxanne, who will not stop until Cyrano is killed.
Page currently stars as the Green Goblin in Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark, and will play his final performance on August 5. His additional Broadway credits include A Man For All Seasons, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Julius Caesar, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and The Kentucky Cycle. His TV credits include The Good Wife and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
